Privacy Policy
This is a static website. It does not have a backend, it does not have user accounts, and it does not store anything you type into it.
The short version
Forge & Anvil is a set of static files. There is no server-side application, no database and no login. The calculators run entirely in your browser and their inputs are never sent anywhere. Nothing you type into this site is stored by us.
What is stored on your device
The site uses your browser’s sessionStorage for one purpose: remembering whether you chose to load the 3D version of a simulator on a small screen. That value is cleared when you close the tab. It is not a tracking cookie and it is not shared with anyone.
If you would prefer not to have it set at all, the 3D tools fall back to their static reference view automatically when WebGL is unavailable, and you can simply not press the “load the 3D version” button.
What is not collected
- No analytics or tracking scripts.
- No advertising, and therefore no advertising identifiers.
- No cookies for profiling or personalisation.
- No account, email list or contact database.
- No third-party embeds — there are no external fonts, scripts, or iframes on any page.
The contact form
The contact form validates your input in the browser and then does nothing else, because there is no server to send it to. If the site operator later connects it to a mail service, this policy must be updated to describe what happens to the message and how long it is kept.
Hosting
Whoever serves these files will necessarily see standard web server request data — IP address, user agent, requested URL and timestamp — in their access logs. That is a property of HTTP rather than of this site, and it is handled under the hosting provider’s own privacy policy. If you deploy this site yourself, you are the data controller for those logs.
External links
Some articles may link to external resources for further reading. Once you follow such a link you are on someone else’s site, and their privacy policy applies, not this one.
Children
This site is intended for adults. Knife making involves hot metal, power tools and hazardous dust, and is not an activity for unsupervised children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will appear on this page. The site version number in the footer is a rough guide to when the content was last reviewed.
